Meet Di Hocking – a Melbourne mother of two and guest designer for our Easter range for Winter 2019. She has spent years carving out her dream job after working as a visual merchandiser and event styler. Her whimsical and sentimental designs attracted our attention as they were so unique and nostalgic and such a great fit with our Snugglebum design ethic. Di illustrated our cheeky Easter bunnies and botanic illustrations featured in all our new seasons Easter range. Read on to find out more about Di:
After working as a Visual merchandiser for 6 years, Di took a huge leap of faith and ventured out on her own, by creating her own business, which would soon evolve into Paper and Style Co. She dabbled in wholesale with hand-made kids’ clothing and event styling, but found herself wanting to pursue her true passion – designing and illustrating! Di always loved drawing, whoever would sit still for more than a minute would have their portrait drawn!
After having her family, illustration became an important creative outlet that quickly evolved into her own business.
‘I wanted to show my kids that following your passion in life is hugely rewarding’. Di wanted them to learn that hard work and a lot of sweat and tears could pay off and be fulfilling in so many ways. ‘Working from home was a huge plus, as was being there for my kids and having a very supportive husband really helped’.
Her love for design, styling, interiors, art and colour has always been present. Her creative efforts have been featured in beautiful baby journals, magazines, creatives business logo’s, wedding invitations, family’s walls and now Snugglebum sleepwear! For creative inspiration Di is drawn to children’s spaces and interior design as well as colour combos and artworks that jump out at her.
‘Seeing my artwork on the most gorgeous pyjama’s is a dream. Especially the Easter range! As a mum of two, Mia who is 16 and Ashton who is 13, our family Easter tradition has always been buying our children new sleepwear for Easter – so this is very special for me!’
